The Arenal Rainforest Village is a new real estate project based on ecological sustainability, environmental conservation and tropical landscaping with a sense of community.

The village is peacefully nestled in a lush rainforest valley south of Arenal volcano’s green slope and is surrounded by clean rivers and primary rainforest. It is designed by Mother Earth for those who love to unwind from a stressful lifestyle in a true tropical setting. It offers all outdoor activities like hiking, fishing, birdwatching, gardening or horseback riding combined with spectacular volcano views and year-round excellent climatic conditions.

The 19-acres property was acquired by the present owners in 1997 and subsequently converted into a development project following a Master Plan based on the integration of modern ecomanagement principles and future residential demands:

1) Strict conservation of the primary tropical rainforest zones and river banks. Reservation of a 3-acres communal rainforest park in the heart of the village.

2) Completing the area flanking the rainforest with biological buffer zones by reforestation using native tree species (creating a natural “corredor” for the migrating fauna of the surrounding National Parks).

3) Production of precious tropical timber wood (Teak wood, beginning in 2001) in mixed plantations with emerging native species for future construction demands.

4) Landscaping of the open park areas with native ornamental plants (e.g. heliconias).

5) Construction of a model home on the owners property.

6) Implementing the fair trade gallery Coco Loco as the first community element.
